Walk a Mile in her Shoes is tomorrow.
Nina Cordell with the YWCA explains what the event is.
“Walk a mile is a YWCA initiative. It started out as a march and it was brought about internationally. This is Thompson’s 5th year doing Walk a Mile in her Shoes."
All money raised this year is going to the YWCA women’s centre to help end violence against women. Cordell says it’s a problem in Thompson. In 2011 21% of female high school students reported being a victim of sexual assault.
All walkers are to meet at the YWCA at 11am tomorrow with shoe fitting starting at 11:30am.
“We provide all the shoes so a man can come and register the day and then go in for the shoe fitting. We have shoes from size 7-14 red and silver."
The walk starts at noon and everyone is welcome to attend and cheer the gentlemen on as well.
