Northstars Fall To Thrashers

The Norman Northstars dropped a pair of games over the weekend to the Winnipeg Thrashers.

 

The Thrashers beat the Northstars 6-3on Saturday night, before thumping them 6-2 yesterday.

 

Jordan Pfoh, Mikey Baron and Hunter Rambow picked up the Nor-Man goals on Saturday, while Albert Sinclair and Kadin Ross added goals yesterday.

 

The Northstars are on the road next weekend as they visit the Capitals, Lightning and Wild.

Flin Flon Dumps Weyburn

The Flin Flon Bombers were victorious in their only game this past weekend.

 

The Weyburn Red Wings made the trip to the Whitney Forum Friday night, where the Bombers dropped them seven-four in front of over 1000 fans.

 

Brandson Hein powered the Flin Flon offence with a hattrick, while Nate Hooper added a goal and three helpers.

 

The Bombers are currently tied with the reigning champion Nipawin Hawks atop the Sherwood Division standings.

OCN Blizzard Go Three For Three Over Weekend

Despite a perfect three and oh weekend, the OCN Blizzard still find themselves in the MJHL basement.

 

The Blizzard beat the Neepawa Natives 3-2 and 5-2 on Friday and Saturday, before doubling up on the Winnipeg Blues yesterday 4-2.

 

OCN is next in action Wednesday as they visit the Wayway Wolverines.

Bombers Split Weekend Series With Yorkton

The Flin Flon Bombers split a pair of games with the Yorkton Terriers at the Whitney Forum over the weekend.

 

The Bombers won 7-5 on Friday night thanks to a pair of goals from Brandson Hein, before falling 5-4 on Saturday.

 

The Bombers currently sit first in the Sherwood Division and third in the SJHL.

Blizzard Can't Find Back Of Net On Weekend Road Trip

The OCN Blizzard were shut out over three games this weekend down south.

 

The Blizzard dropped a 1-0 decision Friday night in Winkler, before falling twice to the Steinbach Pistons, 6-0 on Saturday and 7-0 yesterday.

 

 OCN remains in the MJHL basement with a record of 1-11-1, six points back of tenth place Virden.

Northstars Pick Up First "W" Of 2018/2019 Season

The Norman Northstars went one for three over the weekend at the annual Midget triple-A showcase in Portage.

 

The Norman Squad opened up the weekend on Friday with a 5-2 win over the Central Plains Capitals, with third year goaltender Braedin Melsted stopping 46 of 48 shots, while Richard Ducharme of Norway House scored a hattrick.

 

The Northstars would then drop a 6-3 decision to the Southwest Cougars on Saturday, beforing falling 8-2 to the Parkland Rangers yesterday afternoon.

 

The Northstars are home this weekend as they welcome the Winnipeg Thrashers to the C.A. Nesbitt Arena.

Northstars Look To Shine At Midget "AAA" Showcase

The Norman Northstars will be looking for more than just their first win of the season this weekend during the annual Manitoba Midget “AAA” showcase in Portage la Prairie.  

 

The showcase will be well attended by both Major Junior and Junior “A” scouts, as well as some U.S. universities, who will be looking for talented players to add to their rosters. 

 

The Nor-Man squad, who currently sit in the Manitoba Midget “AAA” Hockey League basement at 0-7, will kick things off tonight against the Central Plains Capitals at 8:00pm. The Capitals come into the game with a record of 3-4, and sit 10th in the league.  

 

The Northstars play the 8th-place Southwest Cougars tomorrow afternoon, and wrap up the showcase Sunday with a matinee against the Parkland Rangers. 

 

Alternate captain Henry Muchikekwanape currently leads the team in both points (8) and assists (5), while second year forward Jamie Valentino leads the team in goals (4). 

Norman Northstars Head Into Showcase Winless

The Norman Northstars are still looking for win number one following a pair of loses to the Pembina Valley Hawks. 

 

The Hawks beat the Northstars 12-2 on Saturday night, before beating them again Sunday 7-4. 

 

Henry Muchikekwanape leads the Nor-Man squad in points with 8 in six games played, adding three goals and two assists over the weekend. 

 

The Northstars will be down south next weekend as they take on Central Plains, Southwest and Parkland in the annual showcase.

Bombers Climb SJHL Ladder

The Flin Flon Bombers find themselves at the top of the SJHL table following a 3-1 road trip. 

 

The Bombers dropped the Weyburn Red Wings 6-3 Saturday evening thanks to a hat-trick from Daylan Marchi, and followed that performance up with a 6-2 thumping of the Estevan Bruins. 

 

Flin Flon forward Brandson Hein leads the league in goals and points with 13 goals and 25 in 14 games, while defenceman Calvon Boots leads the SJHL in assists with 18. 

 

The Bombers are now back at home for a four-game home stand at the Whitney Forum, starting with a pair of games against the Yorkton Terriers on Friday and Saturday. 

Blizzard Get First Win Of Season, Still Sit In League's Basement

The OCN Blizzard finally have their first win of the season, but still remain in the MJHL basement. 

 

The Blizzard hosted the Steinbach Pistons over the weekend, dropping the Friday night affair 4-1. 

 

Saturday saw a much closer game, with newly-acquired forward Nolan Dawson potting his first MJHL goal in overtime to give the Blizzard a 2-1 win. 

 

OCN is next in action tomorrow as they host the Dauphin Kings. 

Northstars Look To Bounce Back Against Pembina Valley Hawks

The Norman Northstars are looking for that elusive first win of the season this weekend as they host the Pembina Valley Hawks. 

 

The Northstars come into the games on a pair of losses to the Winnipeg Bruins, and sport a record of 0-5. 

 

The Hawks on the other hand currently sit fifth in the Manitoba “AAA” Midget Hockey League with a record of 3-2. 

 

Second year forward Jamie Valentino currently leads the Nor-Man squad with three goals and one assist, while captain Hunter Rambow and alternate captain Henry Muchikekwanape are tied for second with three points each. 

 

The Northstars and Hawks play game one Saturday evening at 7:30pm, with game two on Sunday at 1:30pm. 

 

Saturday night’s tilt will be broadcast on 102.9 CHTM. 

 

Bantam Wolves Host Brandon For Home Opener

The Bantam “AAA” Norman Wolves are all set for their home opener this weekend as they welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings. 

 

The two teams will meet Saturday and Sunday, with games starting at 4:00pm and 10:00am respectively. 

 

Both games are slated to be played in the C.A. Nesbitt Arena before the Norman Northstars take to the ice for their games. 

 

RDPC Trojan Soccer Teams Heading To Provincials

There are two more banners to hang at R.D. Parker Collegiate following the Zone
eleven soccer championship over the weekend.


The Burntwood soccer fields played host to both the boys and girls tournaments,
which saw both R.D. Parker squads come out on top and book their spots in the
provincial tournament.


The boys beat the Oscar Lathlin Wolverines (from OCN) 5-1 in the final, winning
their first zone championship in almost a decade.


The girls final was much closer, with a free kick in the second half making the
difference as the Trojans beat Hapnot Collegiate 1-0.


Provincials take place starting October 12th in Swan River.

Northstars Drop Three On The Road

The Norman Northstars opened up the 2018-2019 Manitoba "AAA" Midget Hockey League season with three straight loses.


The Nor-Man squad dropped a 6-0 decision to the Brandon Wheat Kings on
Friday, before falling to the Yellowhead Chiefs 3-0 on Saturday.


Sunday saw the Northstars score their first goals of the season, as Jamie Valentino and
Richard Ducharme found the back of the net in a 5-2 loss to the Parkland Rangers.


The Northstars are next in action this coming weekend as they open up the home
portion of their season with a pair of games against the Winnipeg Bruins.

Blizzard Still Looking For First Win

The OCN Blizzard are still looking for their first win of the season following a pair of loses to the Portage Terriers.


Special teams made the difference on Friday night, as the Terriers used a pair of power
play goals and a short handed goal to beat the Blizzard 4-3.


The high-powered Portage offence fully came to life Saturday, as they scored four
unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 victory.


The Blizzard are one of two teams left in the MJHL still in search of their first win, and
will get their next crack at the “W” on Friday as they head down to Portage for a
rematch against the Terriers.

Bombers Pound Millionaires

The Flin Flon Bombers outscored Melville 13-4 over the weekend at the Whitney
Forum.


The two teams played Friday night in front of over700 fans, and the
Bombers didn’t disappoint as they pounded the Millionaires 9-1.


Caleb Moretz led the way with a hat trick, while Daylan Marchi and Brandson Hein
each added a pair.


Saturday’s game was decided by one goal, as Flin Flon escaped with a 4-3
victory despite an attempted late Melville comeback.


The Bombers are next in action Friday as they host the Kindersley Klippers.
