OCN Blizzard Drop Pair To Stampeders

It was a rough start to the season for the OCN Blizzard.

They opened up their 2018/2019 account Friday evening at home, dropping a 6-3 decision to the Swan Valley Stampeders.

The game started with a Stamps goal just over a minute into the opening frame, and was followed by two others before the end of the period. Sequoia Swan, Kobe Campbell and Trygve Many Guns scored for the Blizzard in the losing effort.

Many Guns is serving as an alternate captain for OCN this season, coming off a 2017/2018 campaign that saw him put up 11 goals and add 15 helpers. Before joining the Blizzard, the 19-year-old spent two seasons split between the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the WHL’s Regina Pats.

OCN didn’t fare much better on Saturday in Swan River, as they lost to the Stampeders 5-2. Josh Maucieri and Jaden Townsend had Swan Valley up by two heading into the second, before Josh Tripp scored the game winner in the second. Many Guns would add his second of the season in the middle frame, with Tony Apetagon adding the other Blizzard goal.

The Blizzard will look to bounce back this weekend as they host former Norman Northstar Sheldin Howard and Portage Terriers. The two teams will play Friday and Saturday, with both games starting at 7:00pm.
