Eight new faces were added to the OCN Blizzard organization Sunday morning during the annual Manitoba Junior Hockey League draft.

In addition to the eight players selected with picks, Chase Bertholet and Keilan Holland were officially welcomed to the team as auto-protects. Both Bertholet and Holland played for the Norman Wolves last season, and are from The Pas.


According to MJHL rules, every team has to protect two local players in March, prior to the draft. These players are then not eligible to be drafted.


Justin Lies, from Flin Flon, was only member of the Norman Wolves team to be selected with a pick in the draft. He went in the 6th round at pick 64 to the Portage Terriers. Lies was also selected in the 2018 WHL Draft in the 3rd round (56th pick) by the Vancouver Giants.


Grady Lane, from Virden, MB, was taken with the #1 pick in the draft by the Winkler Flyers. Lane put up 22 goals and 20 assists last season, and was taken in the 8th round of the 2018 WHL draftlast month by the Spokane Chiefs.

All of the players selected by the 11 member teams played bantam hockey last season, and were born in 2003.
