Steinbach Pistons Headed To RBC Cup

The Steinbach Pistons are the champions of Western Canada.

The Pistons beat the Nipawin Hawks 2-1 last night to win the 2018 ANAVET Cup over the SJHL Champs in six games.

Steinbach now moves on to the national Junior “A” championship, the RBC Cup. The tournament is taking place in Chilliwack, B.C. from May 12th through the 21st.

The RBC Cup will feature the four regional champions, in addition to the host Chilliwack Chiefs. The Ottawa Jr. Senators (CCHL) will represent the East Region, the Wellington Dukes (OJHL) for the Central Region, the Pistons (MJHL) for the Western Region and the Wenatchee Wild (BCHL) for the Pacific Region.

The Cobourg Cougars of the OJHL won the RBC Cup last year. The Portage Terriers won the trophy in 2015, making them the only MJHL team to ever accomplish the feat. The Dauphin Kings and OCN Blizzard both made the championship game once each in from 2000-2010.
