Three RD Parker basketball teams participated in tournaments over the weekend, and two came out with championship banners.

 

The junior varisty (JV) girls and boys teams were at home, as RD Parker played host to the Zone XI JV basketball tournament. There were four teams competing in both girls and boys ball; RD Parker, MBCI (The Pas), Cross Lake and Norway House.

 

The JV girls opened the tournament with a statement win over Norway House, 66-12. They then beat the MBCI Spartans from The Pas by a score of 59-11 to advance to the finals. They faced the Spartans again in the final, where they won 50-13.

 

The JV boys also opened up the tournament against Norway House, winning 81-36. The Trojans turned around to play the MBCI Spartans, and fell 93-64. Sitting at 1-1, the boys played Cross Lake, and won 59-55 to advance to the finals. In the championship game, the Trojan boys came up strong, defeating the MBCI Spartans 76-73.

 

The senior varisty girls team was on the road this past weekend, taking part in the Credit Union Varsity Girls Tournament, hosted by the Swan Valley Tigers. The girls went 1-1, with a 59-51 loss to the host Tigers and a 62-33 win over Neelin.
