Northstars In Tough Against Eastman Selects

The Norman Northstars have a tough weekend ahead of them as they host the Eastman Selects tonight and tomorrow at the TRCC.

The last time these two teams played, back on January 12th, Mikey Baron scored in overtime to lead the NorMan squad to a 5-4 win. The only other meeting of the season, back in November, was a 9-3 victory for the Selects.

Eastman comes into this weekend in fourth place in the Manitoba Midget “AAA” League, two points ahead of the Pembina Valley Hawks, though the Hawks have a game in hand. Eastman is currently on a three game slide, coming off 4-0 and 3-2 losses to the Winnipeg Bruins and Interlake Lightning respectively. The Selects are expected to come out strong to try and hold on to home ice advantage for the playoffs.

The Northstars are coming off a weekend they’d all like to forget, dropping a pair of games to the Winnipeg Wild with a combined score of 29-3. The NorMan squad will get a boost between the pipes, as Braedin Melsted is expected to be back in net. Hunter Rambow leads the Northstars with 31 points (10G, 21A) in 38 games.

The games will be played tonight and tomorrow night in the C.A. Nesbitt Arena. Puck drop is 7:30pm both nights.
