Manitoba Midget "AAA" League Names All-Star Teams

The annual first and second all-star teams for the Manitoba Midget "AAA" Hockey League have been announced.

The two teams, made up of a combined 10 skaters and two goalies, are selected by a vote of each of the coaches in the league.

Four of the six members of the first team are from the Brandon "AAA" Wheat Kings, including goaltender Trent Miner. Miner played 30 games this season in the league, posting a record of 17-3 with two shutouts with a GAA of 1.64 and a save percentage of .941. Miner has been since called up to the Vancouver Giants of the WHL.

Kyle Bettens is one of two members of the defending league champs, the Winnipeg Wild, on the all-star teams. Bettens, who was taken 87th overall in the 2016 WHL draft by the Brandon Wheat Kings, currently has 69 points in 39 games. He is coming off a 10-point weekend against the Norman Northstars. The 16 year old is in his second season with the Wild, and registered three assists in one game this season with the Steinbach Pistons. He is committed to play NCAA hockey at Bemidji State University in Minnesota starting in 2020.
