Busy Weekend For Hockey

It's a busy weekend for hockey here in Thompson.

 

The 26th annual Prince-Berscheid Memorial Hockey Tournament gets underway at noon with with the Peewee "AA" King Miners taking on Cross Lake.

 

The annual Peewee tournament is split into two divisions, "A" and "AA", and features 11 teams. This year, the teams are from Thompson (2 teams), Flin Flon (2 teams), The Pas (2 teams), Cross Lake (2 teams), Norway House, Tataskweyak and Swan River.

 

Round-robin action will take place this afternoon and all day tomorrow, before the elimination games on Sunday.

 

The "AA" division will be playing for the Doug's Source for Sports Cup (final is Sunday at 11:45am), while the "A" division will be playing for the Prince-Berscheid Cup on Sunday at 1:45pm.

In addition to the tournament, both the Bantam "AAA" Norman Wolves and Midget "AA" King Miners are in town for a pair of weekend games.

 

The King Miners will be hosting the Norway House Northstars today and tomorrow, while the Wolves will host the Pembina Valley Hawks Saturday night and Sunday morning.
