Goldeyes Shutout Texas AirHogs In Series Finale

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are back in the win column after shutting out the Texas AirHogs in front of 3,553 fans at Shaw Park last night 3-0.

Reggie Abercrombie hit a two-run home run, his fourth of the season, in the third inning to put the Goldeyes ahead, and they wouldn’t look back. The third run came in the fourth, when Wes Darvill crossed the plate following an error by AirHogs catcher Michael Miller.

Right hander Mikey O’Brien pitched seven solid innings for Winnipeg, not allowing any runs on two hits. The Roanoke, VA native’s record sits at 3-2 on the season in six starts with an ERA of 4.76. Ryan Chaffee came in for the ninth inning, striking out two en route to his eighth save of the season.

The win keeps the Goldeyes right behind the St Paul Saints with a record of 16-10.

Winnipeg is back in action as they open up a three game weekend set with the St Paul Saints at Shaw Park tonight. This is the first time the divisional rivals will meet this season and first pitch is scheduled for just after 7:00pm.
