Goldeyes Thump AirHogs

The Winnipeg Goldeyes laid a beating on the Texas AirHogs last night in front of 7,182 fans at Shaw Park to even up their three game set at a game a piece.

 

Shawn Pleffner lead the way for the Goldeyes, going three for five while driving in six runs on a single, double and a home run. The Kissimmee, FL native’s .380 batting average is currently second in the American Association. Wes Darvill and Reggie Abercrombie each had two RBI’s for Winnipeg in the victory.

 

Right hander Edwin Carl got the ball to start the game for the Goldeyes, fanning five while allowing only two runs on eight hits in six innings pitched. Carl’s record on the season stands at 2-0 with an ERA of 2.78 in five starts. Quintero, Capellan and Chaffee all pitched an inning in relief.

 

Brian Ragira and Michael Miller drove in the two runs for the AirHogs in the losing effort. Texas starter Scott Firth went five innings for the AirHogs, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits.

 

The Goldeyes are set to close out their set with the AirHogs tonight at Shaw Park, with the first pitch scheduled for just after 7:00pm.
