Goldeyes Sweep Stockade

The Winnipeg Goldeyes have moved up to second in the American Association North Division after completing a three-game sweep of the Salina Stockade.

 

The Goldeyes came out swinging in the series finale, thumping the Stockade 16-0 yesterday afternoon.

 

Josh Romanski and Reggie Abercrombie each hit a homerun and drove in four runs apiece to lead the way offensively. David Rohm went three for six while adding three RBI's.

 

Wes Darvill, Mason Katz, Shawn Pleffner and David Bergin drove in the other runs for the Goldeyes.

 

Philadelphia, PA native Kevin McGovern got the start for Winnipeg, and pitched a complete game. He struck out five while walking one and allowing four hits.

 

24-year-old Sam Agnew-Wieland picked up the loss for Salina, his second of the season. Agnew-Wieland went just three innings, surrendering eight earned runs on nine hits. His ERA for the season sits at a whopping 18.89.

 

The Winnipeg Goldeyes play today as they open up a three game set with the Wichita Wingnuts at Lawrence Dumont Stadium, before traveling back north for their home opener on Monday at Shaw Park against the Sioux Falls Canaries.
