A train travelling between Winnipeg and The Pas has derailed.

Via Rail has said that two locomotives and a baggage car went off the tracks early Thursday morning 37 kilometres from The Pas.

Reports say that there 16 passengers and five crew members on the train, though no passengers were injured with two crew members sustaining minor injuries.

The train was traveling at 50 kilometres an hour when it hit an area that had been washed out.

Via has announced that it has suspended service between Winnipeg and Gillam until further notice.
