Tips For Exercise During The Winter

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you have to stop exercising.

Bruce Krentz, from the Northern Health Region, joined Chris Walker on the 102.9 CHTM morning show this morning with some suggestions for outdoor winter apparel.

Krentz said that getting wet makes you cold a lot faster, so he suggested water proof (or resistant) clothing is recommended, especially in the cold. He added that dressing too warm is a mistake, as sweating could be an issue. He said that you should be dressing in layers so you can take them off as needed, and that if you start sweating, keeping sweating until you reach a place where you can be warm.

Krentz went on to talk about specific clothing that is suggested. He said that shoes and boots a half size too big would be a smart investment to make sure your extra large winter socks can fit. He added that reflective clothing is also a good idea, as the sun isn't out for long during the winter months.

Krentz added that there is no bad time to exercise, just bad clothes to be wearing.
