Provincial Government Approves Annual Post-Secondary Tuition Hike

If you’re planning on going to a post-secondary institution here in Manitoba be prepared to start paying more.

An annual post-secondary tuition increase was among the topics and bills discussed, and passed, during a marathon session to close out the sitting of the Manitoba Legislature that lasted from 7:30pm until 4:15am.

The bill that was passed with regards to post-secondary tuition costs will raise tuition by 5% plus the rate of inflation annually.

This will increase the price of tuition by hundreds of dollars every year.

NDP leader Wab Kinew says that the current government is making education less affordable for families trying to make ends meet. He added that putting food on the table while paying tuition will become harder each and every year under Premier Pallisters government.

The legislature will resume with a new sitting on November 21st.
