The City of Thompson has a new Deputy Mayor.
Earlier this evening, the City of Thompson held a special organizational meeting of City Council at which Mayor Dennis Fenske appointed a new Deputy Mayor, as well as chairs of the various City committees. Following the appointments, council voted on represetatives to sit as seconds on the committees.
The meeting starting with an opening prayer from Elder Jack Robinson, followed by remarks from Mayor Fenske.
Fenske gave highlights of accomplishments of council, including the start of construction on the new Waste Water Treatment Plant. He then thanked the citizens of Thompson for their imput and participation at council meetings and on social media. He also took the time to thank administration and all of council for their continued hard work. He concluded his remarks by publicly announcing that he would not be seeking re-election.
The first appointment of the evening by the Mayor was Colleen Smook as the new Deputy Mayor of the City.
