On October 18, 2017, Thompson RCMP were called to a residence for a report of a male being shot.

When police arrived, a 23-year-old male from Thompson was located with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Winnipeg hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

David Baker, 19, from Winnipeg, was arrested at approximately 12:30 pm this afternoon. He is charged with attempted murder and discharge firearm with intent. He remains in custody.

The investigation continues with the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Unit, RCMP Police Dog Services, Northern Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team and Forensic Identification Services.
