Fentanyl Dangers

The Manitoba government is launching a public campaign about the dangers of Fentanyl.

In the last nine weeks there have been seven suspected opioid-related deaths in Winnipeg.

Thompson RCMP say that the drug has not made its way to Thompson as of yet, but that it could in the near future.

Fentanyl is most commonly used mixed with other drugs such as cocaine.  For those not using illicit drugs, your risk is low however unintentional exposure to the drug can cause serious harm.

Signs of an overdose can include, but are not limited to: severe sleepiness, slow, shallow breathing, lips and nails that turn blue, cold and clammy skin, and unresponsiveness.  If anyone has concerns about exposure to Fentanyl please contact EMS immediately.
