NCN Personal Care Home Employees Set to Strike

Members working at the Nisichawayasihk Personal Care Home will be on strike at the end of the month if their employer does not meet their demands.

Employees of the NCN care home reached a strike mandate in October after six years of fighting for wage parity with counterparts other areas of the province. A November 28th strike date has been set.

Thirty members are set to strike. MGEU estimates that it will cost the employer $200,000 for the workers to achieve parity with other provincial care homes.

This will be the second time that employees at the facility will take job action in two years. Nurses from the home were successful in achieving wage parity in 2015
