WTP Rates Decided; PUB to Approve

The City of Thompson has passed the resolution of the rates for the new Water Treatment Plant.

The proposed method for calculation will need to be approved by the Public Utilities Board.

The City Council went with the option that 75% of the utility rate will come through consumption and the other 25% of the bill would be from a rate per unit frontage.

There was opposition of the resolution, when Councillor Ron Matechuk said that residents shouldn't pay for anything more than consumption.

Councillor Penny Byer agrees it may seem unfair, but says it was the position the city was put in.

Since the resolution has passed, the application will now be sent to the Public Utilities Board, and they will wait for approval.
