Local Reactions for President Trump

After Donald Trump won the United States Presidential nomination, reactions have poured in from around the world.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent out a press release, saying "Canada has no closer friend, partner, and ally than the United States. We look forward to working very closely with President-elect Trump and his administration."

Local MP for Churchill Keewatinook-Aski Niki Ashton is hoping the federal government can work with Trump while keeping the countries core values.

Traditionally, the President's first international trip will be to Canada. Outgoing President Barack Obama made his first visit a month after being inaugurated in 2009.

MLA for Thompson Kelly Bindle says he was surprised by the results and didn't find out the winner until the next morning.

Bindle said he thinks that much of what Trump said during his campaign won't come to fruition, saying that he probably said most of the things to get the necessary votes to win the election.

One of the promises Trump made during his campaign has suddenly disappeared, as the promise to ban all Muslims from the U.S. has vanished from his website since being elected as President.
