Mayor Dennis Fenske has proclaimed this month as Diabetes month for the City of Thompson.

National diabetes month is observed throughout out the country every November so that organizations can spread awareness about the disease that affects over a million Canadians a year.

In part of the month, Canadians are encouraged to visit the DontBeRisky.ca website and fill out a CANRISK test to identify their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes usually develop in adulthood, although more children and adolescents are being diagnosed.
