A local high school student has made headlines around the province after a song about the struggles at Oxford House First Nation has gone viral.
Carlene Weenusk, originally from Oxford House and now hails from Thompson, joined with her group of friends and teamed up with a production team from Montreal to make the video that describes what youth deal with living on isolated reserves like Oxford House.
Weenusk says they wanted let people know of the struggles they face and says that living in Oxford House limits opportunities.
Weenusk says she would love to end up back in Oxford House, and would like to become the community's dentist. She plans on going to University of Manitoba for school to become one.
