Public Safety Report Released

At the Council Meeting, the Public Safety Committee released their quarterly report which gives information on the 2nd quarter.

 

Numbers were given out by how much ambulance and fire services have been needed over the year so far. Both received an increase for up to date numbers from last year, with the fire services having a 1.67% boost. Ambulance numbers have jumped 10.31% with almost 300 extra calls through two quarters of the year.

 

The revenue that has been brought in from ambulances has generated near $1.3 million. 

The city will be discussing options about ATV use in the city which has caused near incidents in the city. It has been suggested that PSA's, signage and education of ATV use may be used in the future.

 

As well, Animal Control has seen an increase in dogs that are loose around the community. Animal control has extended hours to conduct patrols in the evening. Discussions have started up the Thompson Veterinary Clinic to start selling licenses to improve the number of animals with licenses.
