A rainbow flag was raised to the sky on Monday afternoon in front of City Hall to start Pride Week in the city of Thompson.

The Mayor of Thompson Dennis Fenske, MP for Churchill-Keewatinook Aski region Niki Ashton and Stacy Martin who represented MLA Kelly Bindle were all on hand for the flag-raising ceremony.

Mayor Fenske sympathized with the LGBTTQ faithful that was on hand by sharing personal experiences of challenges from family members.

Niki Ashton said that every day we should stand with LGBTTQ members as they try to advance the rights of so many.

Pride week will continue with a march planned on Saturday along with a social later on during the night.
