First Nation Communities Get Imagination library Program

The Dollywood Foundation of Canada has announced that the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Program will be replicated in 63 First Nation communities this year.

New additions to the program will be Nelson House and Peguis. Peguis is the only First Nation community that provides free books for their residents.

Each month children receive books that are selected carefully by a group of experts in education, child development and early child literacy. This is to help ensure that books will help support them appropriately at every stage of their development.

The Library Program will be available to just under 10,000 on-reserve children under the age of five.

The next goal for Manitoba is to replicate in the city of Winnipeg for 2017.
