City council has contributed the last bit of funds needed for a new curling ice plant.
Mayor Dennis Fenske tells us about the $40,000 contribution: "The facility itself is located in the TRCC and the City owns the building itself. The Burntwood Curling Club operates the facility from a programming perspective and any infrastructure that they purchase is eventually turned over to the City of Thompson. Its in the best interest of both the club and city that the ice plant is available and running because if it doesn’t then the club isn’t able to operate and that’s a loss of an activity for our community".
The Burntwood Curling Club had been raising money throughout the season to help cover the $147,000 it will cost to replace and install a new ice plant.
