Airport development plans received well by public

The room was filled with residents at the airport public consultation last week.

Attendees were presented with plans for the $116 million airport development project, which would include a new terminal, new water treatment plant and highway development.

The public made some suggestions and comments, but were generally excited for the plans and thought it would be a good economic opportunity for the City.

Some concerns were whether the new building would be environmentally friendly, how parking would be set up, and whether the project was feasible financially.

CEO of the Authority, Curtis Ross, said the City is long overdue to replace the existing terminal, built in the early 60’s.

The Thompson Regional Airport Authority is still securing funds for the project from the provincial and federal government.
