Manitoba Road Fatalities Decreasing

Last year Manitoba saw the fewest auto related fatalities in the last 20 years.

Manitoba Public Insurance says the decrease in fatalities is continuing in 2014. There were 85 road fatalities in 2013, and as of October 2014 the province has seen 59.

80% of road fatalities occur in rural areas of Manitoba.

Education about high risk driving behaviour, tough drinking and driving laws, and technological advances in cars are all believed to be contributing factors to the decrease.
